Nighttime Oximetry

Are you having trouble sleeping? Do you snore or wake up feeling tired? Nighttime oximetry can provide valuable insights into your sleep quality and oxygen levels.

What is Nighttime Oximetry?

We're all familiar with pulse oximeters, the devices that clip onto your finger and measure your blood oxygen levels, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are simple and quick to use.

But what if we need to measure blood oxygen levels during sleep?

That's where Nighttime Oximetry comes in.

The process is simple and straightforward:

1. Call us to schedule an appointment.

2. We'll bring a portable device (like the one pictured above) that records your blood oxygen levels during the night to your residence. We'll show you how to use it.

3. Sleep normally in your bed while wearing the device on your finger. The measurements will be taken automatically throughout the night.

4. The next day, we'll collect the device and extract the data, which then we can send to you or your doctor for evaluation.

Benefits of nighttime oximetry services:
  • Early detection of sleep apnea:  Nighttime oximetry can help identify individuals with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Early detection is crucial for preventing serious health complications.
  • Evaluation of sleep-related breathing disorders: It can help diagnose other sleep-related breathing disorders such as central sleep apnea and Cheyne-Stokes respiration.
  • Monitoring of chronic respiratory conditions: Nighttime oximetry can be used to monitor patients with chronic respiratory conditions like COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) to assess their oxygen levels during sleep and determine if they need supplemental oxygen therapy.
  • Non-invasive and convenient: Nighttime oximetry is a non-invasive and relatively simple procedure that can be performed in the comfort of your own home.
  • Cost-effective: Avoid the cost of purchasing a nighttime oximetry device, which is approximately 25 times the cost of a simple oximeter.
If you suspect you may have a sleep disorder or have any concerns about your breathing during sleep, it's important to consult a healthcare professional to discuss whether nighttime oximetry is right for you.

Prevent potential health problems with nighttime oximetry. Early diagnosis is key to effectively treating respiratory disorders.
